Rodellar, a village at the end of the road

…some years ago there were still buses running between Bierge and Rodellar, but these days everyone owns a car, or so the assumption has it. The service was suspended and climbers like us were left with a choice of renting a vehicle or hitching. We chose the latter.

In Bierge there is only one junction. There we planned to stop (the odds of catching a direct ride being too slim) and wait for another car to take us to our final destination.

Regarded by many as the Mecca of hard sport climbing, Rodellar lies in the heart of Aragon and its 49 inhabitants are connected with the rest of the world by only one road…
