In 2014, my Master’s thesis “Climbing Women and Niche Media. Beyond Alternative Femininities” was awarded a distinction at SOAS, University of London, and subsequently presented at The Women’s History Conference in Glasgow.
With a BA in Japanese Studies and an MA in Anthropology, I started my career as an executive in a public relations agency in London. Quickly realising my passion for sports and the great outdoors, I rejected the offer of a permanent position and chose to pursue a career as a freelancer.
In between my online marketing and ghost-writing engagements, my journalism has been published in national and specialist press in the UK, Poland and Germany.
I have lived in six countries all over the world. Born and raised in Warsaw, I am fully bilingual in Polish and English. I have also studied German, Russian Japanese and Mandarin and managed to forget it all. Currently struggling with French.
Now based in the bouldering mecca of Fontainebleau, I am the founder and director of the Women’s Bouldering Festival which attracts more than one hundred international participants every year.
Five years late on my goal to climb an 8A bloc, perhaps it’s time to move the deadline from “before thirty” to “before forty”.
